Pathamvela Ganegoda

This vihara is situated in the Patamwela Ganegoda village of the Murutamure Divisional Secretariat Division.

The Dagoba, Image House, Pond, Preaching Hall and the Inscription found in the vihara premises are archaeological monuments. The stone foot washing vessel and the flower alter belong to the Anuradhapura period but the wall paintings of the image house depict the style of the Kandyan period. Some statues are placed in the fairly ancient image house.

The stupa in the vihara premises has been renovated in 1954 A.D. The ancient dagoba could belong to the Anuradhapura period.
