The Temple on Pillars at Tinapitiya Temple premises located at Madampe in Chilaw had been built in 2466 B.E. according to the records found in the Temple. The Temple on Pillars, built on 20 pillars is in good preservation. The main statue of the Buddha in the temple is flanked by the statues of Buddha’s two main disciples, Arahant Sariuth and Arahant Mugalan, while on the left of the Buddha statue is the statue of God Iyyanayaka and on the right, the statue of God Taniwelle Devata Bandara.
